My personal experience is that when I’m out over my skis, I’m falling! Ha!
Seems like a ski jumping term... they lean waaaay out over the tips of their skis. It can either result in a much longer jump. . . or a spectacular accident. The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. That sort of stuff, yew know.
