I consider it completely unimportant who in the party will vote, or how; but what is extraordinarily important is this -- who will count the votes, and how.

VP Pence will count the votes. He is extraordinarily important. VPOTUS can follow the precedent Nixon set in 1960 by deciding which slates of electors to report. It will be a big F.U. to the Dems for rigging the election. If the Senate votes along party lines, the worst that can happen is to send the presidential election to the House, and the VP election to the Senate.
