But then Texas in particular is quite different from other states.
Texas is the one state in the union that actually has the right to secede. It was embedded in its agreement to enter the Union.
I know Texans like to believe that, but they are as misguided on this topic as they are on what true barbecue is.

These are just two of a multitude of articles about the myth of Texas’ right of secession being somehow different than any other state.
Look at our constitution - no where do the words 'secede' pr secession' appear. It's a great idea and many believe it's true, but as we learned in our (mandatory) Texas History class- it's (sigh) no longer true.
We also gave up the right to split into 5 separate states. That's too bad as it would have protected the rest of Texas from Austin long ago.
