I don’t know if anybody will agree with me but I think Barr did not tell President Trump about Hunter because the DOJ didn’t want Hunter to know that he was being investigated which allowed Hunter to “keep on trucking” committing crimes and his dad could breathe easier. So I think President Trump weighed the argument (if there was one) that Barr couldn’t tell him before the election. Didn’t Hunter just a few weeks ago announce he was under investigation for taxes? And didn’t a Q drop (can’t remember date 2018) that Barr would face public scorn? So was this something planned and performed between Barr and Trump?

Now, how would Hunter find out he’s being investigated, if Barr had told PDJT?

IMHO, PDJT does diversions and keeps the investigations secret, so its too late for the perps to escape.
