What they are afraid of is having to recognize that the political system and system of law in which they have so much invested has been broken by massive, in-your-face fraud. They can't accept the premise of the case that such a massive subversion of the system is possible, that the apparently nice, collegial elite club they thought they joined is a viper's nest of corruption and illegality.
To accept the premise to impugn their own vanity, their own understanding of the system of which they consider themselves to be a vital part.
Your opinion is the one being expressed. Basically, they are idiots.
I think they are SMART and they realize what the left is capable of.
And really it is no more of a conspiracy or complicated than that they fear for their safety.
