What good is a vote, if the vote is fraudulent, invalid or thrown out.
That's a fair question. The vote becomes a act in a sham ritual, same as when all the viable candidates are on the same path.
A couple points. YMMV.
I abhor universal suffrage, and for good reason. The condition we are in is partly attributable to universal suffrage.
It's up to the people as a whole to keep their freedom. Govenments exist to balance control, and when they take too much, the people either take it back, or they lose.
Voting as a ritual is used to endorse usurpation of the people's power. "You voted for us, so our exercise of power is legitimate."
