I was told back in the late 60’s, that it was a member of the Army Security Agency.

I had to look all that up,
you are correct...until they started changing the date of the start of the Vietnam war, for purposes of being on the Vietnam Memorial Wall.

Dewey was killed in 1945. Some have been trying to get him on the Wall since forever.

The U.S. eventually declared the Vietnam war started in 1955 for “wall” purposes.
