I heard AG Barr give a speech about this quite some time ago, the judiciary has become MUCH too powerful. Instead of legislative action, people turn to courts, and judges have become bloated and power mad (my words, not Barr’s). The judiciary needs to resume their proper position in the balance of power between the three branches. So maybe in the ultimate issue this ruling will actually help to pave the way for a less bloatedly powerful judiciary.

You're right. This is a very big issue. Not only do we not want it, but SCOTUS cannot afford to get in the business of digging around in every state's election machinery for every national election from now on.

If they are going to get involved, our 5 Justices are going to need a very sharp scalpel.

I remember clearly that speech of Barr’s - it was all, or mostly all, about the bloated power the judiciary has acquired over the decades.

I don’t feel so bad about this decision as I did earlier, and also because I am sure Trump & team have a Plan, and this does not mess it up. This case has generated a lot of attention about the corrupt election and that is a good thing.
