No, if Harris becomes President, she will be free to nominate a new V.P. under the 25th Amendment. This has happened twice. Once when Nixon replaced Agnew with Ford and when Ford appointed J.D. Rockefeller to replace Ford.

Just because Pelosi is next in line, does not mean she steps up to the VP slot. Who or what Harris might choose, I have no idea. Perhaps a lesbian minority woman, since Harris herself was chosen for her sex and race, not for any particular leadership abilities.

Harris’s choice has to be approved by majority votes in both houses.

J.D. Rockefeller was long dead when Ford became President. Ford picked Nelson Rockefeller to be his Vice President (but had to drop him from the ticket in 1976).
