Freedom is having a spirit that is wild like the wind; there is a bird that flies over the ocean, it goes over the rock of Gibraltar to get thermals to lift it higher.
My brother was a missionary in Brazil, he showed us a picture of a huge boa constrictor with a big lump in it. It was a man. Bitterness is a squeezing away of joy and peace.
At the cross Jesus cried out “Father forgive them they know not what they do”. We come to the cross in our “as is” condition and we are loved. When we empty our hearts of all the hurts we leave in the “as He is” condition. Then we love Him more. What we do not understand we leave and we are safe in the shelter of the cross.
Like Christmas presents under the tree, with empty hands we open each gift; the cleanness of a heart free with forgiveness is a gift that keeps giving you flying in air that is full of rejuvenating power. Having freedom is not a paper with your rights on it. No, it is a cross with your name written in the Book of Life for eternity.
On a personal note, I had very abusive parents who prevented my dream of becoming a teacher. From the fury of their fire I forgave them and flew into my future, where I teach with a degree gotten from life experiences. I teach my grand children using stories; I try to be gentle and kind, which is where wisdom develops a great mind.
I forgive you he said as the boot on his throat choked the life out of him. Sorry, too much forgiving going on.
“... Forgive us our trespasses AS WE FORGIVE THOSE WHO TRESPASS AGAINST US.”
Your reward will be great in heaven, Mrs. W. Well done.
What some don’t realize is that forgiveness is not handing out licenses to walk all over us. I have forgiven people in my life of whom I am very careful. They will not have the chance to wrong me again.
Forgiveness is Mercy and Grace, as God grants us. He doesn’t say, “Go on sinning.” He expects us not to sin. We can’t control someone else’s behavior, but we can control our reaction.
