We just have not had that experience and that is considering we mostly eat our own beef raised and finished right here at the house.

Store brands aren’t off spec batches. If they made enough off spec to supply a private label their process controls would have to be awful.

The chemical manufacturer I work for does a bit of private label sales. Production speed is way too high to jerk around with sequesrering off spec. On those rare occasions they rework it or dispose of it.
