Split peas/lentils would fall under beans, but they are a bit easier to cook

They are relative gluten free, and very nutritious compared to other grains, especially rice.

Agreed. A big bowl of oatmeal is delicious, costs just pennies, is filling, and helps lower cholesterol levels. A great food source!
