If they had the power, Weld County would be it’s own State. I do believe that desire has been previously expressed. Who in their right mind would want to remain in the Denver/Boulder cesspool, and governed by the insanity that resides therein.
Most of Colorado EXCEPT Denver and Boulder are pretty conservative.

There has been an effort made in recent years past by (IIRC) 5 counties in NE Colorado, Weld County being one of them, to get momentum going for a break away from Colorado and forming a new state...Not sure if it was ever for real or just blowing smoke...
Apparently that has died down because we hear nothing about it...I’m looking to relocate/downsize (out of Denver Metro area) and Weld County is at top of my list..
Outside the large population centers where the Socialist minded tend to congregate, Colorado (farm and ranch country mostly) is pretty well center to even Red politically...Most folks just want to be left alone...Fat chance of that!
The Denver/Boulder axis just holds too much population, the illegal vote and political sway...The Dims control the Governor, Senate and House...We’re well on our way to becoming a permanent one-party state...
