Remote learning doesn't work. Actual home schooling would.

If MoCo, means Montgomery County (MD), I spent three years in H.S. there, and they were as racist (and, obviously, liberal) as any place this Navy Brat has ever been.
Of course they're going to beat down on the “Dusky hued”. Where else are they going to get votes/power, than those totally dependent on them?

Montgomery County should now be known as “Marxist Montgomery Maryland”. Erlich is a Marxist authoritarian and his open policies, not to mention his covert ones, show it in every way.
Think of MoCo in two other ways;
1. A liberal plantation that keeps the minorities down on the farm through political bribes (aid for various causes, legit and crooked), and
2. Or, a Marxist experiment in seeing how far towards authoritarianism “fake Democrats” can go before they are exposed.
Lots of rich white elitist liberals (aka Marxists/progressives/democratic socialists, etc) live there in areas that are no Section 8 housing (I’ve seen what that did to parts of Gaithersburg and possibly Germantown. We don’t go there anymore after having gone to see relatives, eat at special restaurants and some general shopping and the old Montgomery County Fair/memorabilia shows.
Not worth the risk of getting robbed, shot or killed by some of MoCo’s finest “citizens”.

Wealthiest county in Maryland and the most radically leftist.

Coming in the opposite direction was a geezer, walking slumped forward with a long white shirt, big floppy hat, and a six-foot walking stick. He suddenly stops and points his stick at me and shouts: “DISTANCING!”
“What?” I replied
“YOU’RE NOT DISTANCING!”

LOL! The dirty truth is that these kids were already failing during "in-classroom" teaching. The grading procedures in place shoved them along to the next grade to 'hide' their failures.
Teachers' overall incompetence was covered up to protect the 'System'.
Virtual learning merely put a spotlight on the existing problem.

If they had any brains, they’d admit that if learning from home hurts minorities more than whites, clearly their home life is the reason for their failures. For a lot of those kids, school was an oasis of structure and sanity.

COVID will next be used as the excuse to eliminate grading and standardized testing. And as measurement disappears, the racial achievement gap will disappear. This will be hailed as an historic breakthrough, with non-testing and ungraded systems to become the post-COVID norm.

Exactly correct. Home schooling requires an engaged parent wholly devoted to providing their children with education opportunities.
Remote learning by force does none of that. All that it accomplishes is to give marginal levels of success to higher achievers and excuses for failure to the rest.

First you have to have Educated parents.
I taught my youngest to read with old Dick/Jane style books. His dad wrote code for Commodore 64 to make math flash cards, drastic grade change in 6 weeks. 1st grade, he’s now approaching 40.

I think that for many single parents, having their kids in school is a relief from having to deal with them.
