Granted that there is nothing to preclude your getting Covid at one of the destination stops but your own immunity, when you’re onboard a cruise liner with no one who hasn’t been vaccinated, there should be essentially zero chance of picking up covid there.

But obviously that can’t undo the past.

That's for sure, and a person could pick it up on his air flight and vehicle transportation to the cruise ship and it may not show up for days in which case you will be on the cruise ship.
And you know who will be blamed, and shut down. -Tom

It is looking like a train wreck in slow motion for the Cruise Lines.

And the state of Florida. DeSantis is likely also a target. Add to this the recent minimum wage hike, and Florida is gonna be taking some additional economic hits.

. . . but my premise is that people get vaccinated and wait until the vaccine takes effect before boarding the ship. That, I suppose, takes as much as four weeks.

At that point your probability of picking up the virus - even a mild case - from the general population is (using Moderna numbers) only 11 in 15000.

But if the entire population of the cruise ship is similarly inoculated, who aboard ship is going to infect the eleven of 15 thousand cruise line passengers???

Even if you are the one who somehow gets a mild case of it, the likelihood that you’ll give it to someone else who’s been similarly vaccinated is basically bupkis.

The medical staff isn’t terrified because they were vaccinated, and nobody panics. With all on board vaccinated, herd immunity is a sure thing. One case is just - one case.

If the requirement is you have to be vaccinated before going on the cruise, instead of just testing negative, then there is no way they can fill those cruise ships since any people who are young and/or healthy won't voluntarily get vaccinated, and will be excluded. -Tom

And to the original thread add Disney cruise line also cancelling their cruises into 2021, according to Emrys Thakkar on Cruise Hive.-Tom

Excerpt- "Disney cruise ships will have to remain on hold for a little longer as the cruise line has announced it’s extending the suspension on operations through February 28, 2021. This is an extra month added on as the previous extension was until February 2021".
