CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago Police say a 15-year-old boy suspected of beating to death a 74-year-old man with a baseball bat and then setting his body on fire has been arrested. Police say the boy was taken into custody on Wednesday night and charged with first-degree murder and concealment of a homicidal death.

If he is certified to stand trial as an adult, the maximum sentence he can face (thanks to SCOTUS) is life with the possibility of parole. If he’s tried as a juvenile, his sentence would be much less.

See my reply to #3. I do see the points both of you were making.
Then again, though, chances of someone in prison giving him a little “help” to get to the permanent solution I mentioned are pretty high. So there’s a chance the problem will take care of itself.

Every knows that when you’re murdered by a 15 yo you’re not as dead as if you were murdered by an older person. That must be the rationale behind slap on the wrist sentences for “teens” who commit serious crimes.
