I sat through the “Meteor Garden” (Tiawan or Communist China?) with my Filipina Bride and we enjoyed it. She has seen most versions of it.

Husband and I were noticing that we can almost count on one hand the references that might imply communism among what must be going on a hundred dramas I’ve watched. What they emphasis instead is 1950’s patriotism. Of course, it’s to China, but so would we if we were born there. Sports dramas are about the goal of representing China in international tournaments. Even gaming competitions want to represent China. But no one seems to be interested in communism. What they ARE interested in is religion. Again, I could number on one hand the dramas where the people don’t pray at some point. And that’s all government approved since the censorship pours out of the dramas.
