“I was just thinking that with thousands dying from Covid, that the pressure on Social Security should be lessening. Has anyone seen an analysis?”

No decrease in total death rates.

Not too difficult an analysis to conduct yourself.

250,000 people have died WITH covid.

75% of the deaths are in the above age 65 group.

Average social security payment is about $20,000 per year.

That will give you a ballpark number

There are no excess deaths, said the CDC recently.

Liberals AROUND THE WORLD like killing off old people.

They are a drain on resources and don’t (in their opinion) have any social value to the collective.

Many, many examples.

If you assume that all the deaths were old, useless, sick people, then the 275,000 dead would be 0.4% of the 65 million people that receive Social Security benefits.

Of course, since about 20% weren’t even old enough to collect SS, that reduces the number to .32%. A third of a percent, or 1/300th of the statistical population, is not gonna show on any analysis outside the margin of error.

Not to infer anything to you personally, but when I read that I immediately wondered are they suggesting that we could SOLVE the SS problem by eliminating “old people”.

Again, not saying you were inferring that.

In the vein of “We have established what you are, we are simply haggling about the price.”

We have established that old people have to go, we are simply haggling about the precise age.

Don't forget the payroll taxes that are likely not being paid to cover Social Security at this time. Trump wanted a payroll tax holiday. I know my workplace declined to participate because there was no guarantee we wouldn't be on the hook to pay it back.

I hate Pelosi for the way she's treated the under and unemployed during Covid. She hasn't given a damn about The People. Not everyone who is unemployed qualified for unemployment, particularly younger workers.

Nope. A lot of folks not working would mean less payroll taxes being put into the pot. I suspect states revenues will be down across the board.

There’s over 60 million people getting SS so 10% of the 270K= number listed as COVID BS deaths is irrelevant.

The bigger concern would be the number of people out of work and not paying into SS along state local and other federal taxes. That is taking a toll.

Slip and fall in bathtubs and medical malpractice kills more old folks than the fake kungflu.

No real impact on payments out, because most of the dying are in the last year of life.

It WILL kill the Social Security system sooner than otherwise would have happened, because so many are out of work and not paying in.
