Yeah, JP is just as regular as K

If by 'regular' you mean 'obnoxious' and 'annoying', yes.

The linked article is from July. Nobody was dying in July in Germany from COVID-19.

I'd say the article needs an update given the more recent second wave which is actually larger than their first one.

The second wave in 1918 was MUCH worse than the first.

It would not surprise me to find out that is how viruses work.

The graph at the top of the article was updated 27 November. Please refer to that to see all the countries with few excess deaths.

‘Look, the deaths are happening.’

oh, yeah, aren’t you the one that said if a guy falls off a ladder, and cracks his skull, and postmortem testing discovered viral infection, then classifying his death in the covid total is legit...because the virus caused him to be disoriented or short of breath or whatever...

you are positing that any excess deaths are, if not totally, then primarily due to covid; something you have no way of knowing, but something you’ve been saying for a long time...

I am keeping an eye on excess deaths too...but you are right in that it is very hard to distinguish between excess deaths due to Coronavirus and excess deaths due to the lockdown.

Meanwhile

November 09, 2020 At the start of November, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)'s Weekly U.S Influenza Surveillance Report—also known as FluView—reports that seasonal influenza activity in the United States remains low.1

According to the data from the last week of October, only 1.3% of outpatient doctor visits have been for influenza-like illness (ILI), which is well below the national baseline of 2.6%. At this time last year, the number was higher at 2.1%.2 https://www.verywellhealth.com/fluview-reports-low-numbers-5086518..

According to data collected by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Southern Hemisphere reported a mild, even non-existent flu season, which may bode well for countries in the Northern Hemisphere that are just now entering their flu season.3

Sept. 17, 2020 CDC says seasonal flu cases hit record lows around the world...Data from Australia, Chile and South Africa shows a tiny fraction of influenza cases from April to July, the months that constitute the typical flu season in the Southern Hemisphere. In those three regions, there were just 51 influenza positive specimens among 83,307 tests for a positivity rate of 0.06 percent. In contrast, the positive rate in those regions during the same time period in years prior was close to 14 percent. - https://www.nbcnews.com/health/cold-and-flu/cdc-says-seasonal-flu-cases-hit-record-lows-around-world-n1240333

"oh, yeah, aren’t you the one that said if a guy falls off a ladder, and cracks his skull, and postmortem testing discovered viral infection, then classifying his death in the covid total is legit...because the virus caused him to be disoriented or short of breath or whatever..."

Nope, I'm the one that said a guy who fell off a ladder after a week of severe respiratory symptoms during which his roommates were desperately urging him to go to the hospital because he could hardly breathe, and whose autopsy identified massive lung trauma indicating Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, who had no other known history of medical issues, and who also tested positive for COVID-19 MAY have become short of breathe while he was climbing up to the roof. And I also stated that the classification of death was speculation and a difficult call.

"you are positing that any excess deaths are, if not totally, then primarily due to covid; something you have no way of knowing, but something you’ve been saying for a long time..."

No, I'm stating that the medical determination of doctors around the world are that X number of people are dying of COVID-19 and lo and behold! The excess death numbers happen to match up pretty nicely. The only "positing" I'm doing is that some early deaths in March and April which should have been classified as COVID-19 were missed because no tests were available to confirm what the underlying cause of death was. Funny thing that medical conditions with a high risk of death from COVID-19 (e.g. dementia, cardiopulmonary issues, etc.) happened to see a sudden rapid spike in excess mortality at the very beginning of the pandemic when tests weren't available, but suddenly returned right back to normal baseline numbers when tests WERE available. What a weird coincidence. I wonder what might have happened.

Cases go up and two weeks later deaths go up. Cases go down and two weeks later deaths go down. Yeah, it’s a real mystery.
