"Pilgrim crashed his car near the Vandenberg Air Force Base visitor center" The title made it sound like he crashed the base gate, but he actually only got as far as the visitor center which is usually outside the base gate. Had he actually crashed the gate, the Air Force Security Force would have made sure he didn't live to tell about it.
