They found it.
Would it be wrong to be disappointed that Ilan Ohmar wasn’t found in that smoker burnt to a crisp?
After reading the story, the stolen smoker is the least of it. Thieves even stole the HVAC system off the roof! For a BBQ restaurant, the HVAC is probably massive.
I bet it was not that hard to sniff down
Many times, if you have something that is extremely heavy and bulky, you get sloppy about security. Who’s going to steal that?
Why was the Smoker abandoned in the alley?
Maybe that Smoker is so well known in that area, that the thieves could not sell it right away, or it would take too much work to break down. Sort of like a horse with a unique appearance being stolen.
Fwiw, my “hometown” LIONS CLUB had their HUGE & trailer mounted smoker stolen at Christmas 2 years ago - It was finally found near Tulsa OK. = It is made out of a 1500 pound PROPANE TANK & the chassis/axels/wheels of an 8x50 foot “junked” house trailer.
The person who was found with it claimed that he bought it for 500.oo cash.
The club got the BBQ pit back & thereafter LOCKED IT UP much more securely.

“They might not exactly be here when you get back, but it’s a blue Chevy two-door and it’ll be going south on Hertatto Street. No, I can’t make out the license number, but it’ll be pulling a small BBQ restaurant. So, any blue Chevy pulling a small BBQ restaurant, I’d figure that’d be the one.”
2 1/2 hours later the police arrived. I believe ‘ol boys in Texas would have gone right in to retrieve their property, heavily armed, and ready.
In a poor attempt at humor, my son, an Army officer, told me; “You know Dad, I will be the guy knocking on your door to take your guns away.”
Go to the city and buy a couple of tire boots.
There are people here that have BBQ on trailers. One guy parks his in the parking lot of Advanced Auto and he is there Thursdays to Sundays. Great ribs he has...YUM...
