Don’t rely on secondhand summaries and go straight to the source himself. Read Frederick Douglass’ OWN writings in FULL.
Douglass is one of the greatest minds to ever roam the planet, and a man of Jesus Christ. He was definitely complicated, (as our founders were too, who also did not operate like a monolith) — and he was as steeped in history, literature, ancient languages and Biblical truth as most of the great men in prior generations of our nation were. We would all be better if we were more like him.
And we will teach NONE of this in school.
.
“...he (Douglass) maintained that the Founders’ Constitution was not pro-slavery; it was “a GLORIOUS LIBERTY DOCUMENT.””
Please let our MSM know that, m’kay?
From some other old, dead black guy:
“There is a class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public.
Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs-partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays.
Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.”
- Booker T. Washington, historical black educator and Presidential advisor
Thanks.
