The pilgrims were NOT the first to come ashore. A colony existed in Jamestown. The Mayflower wass headed to Jamestown when a storm blew them off course.

Virginia had a lot to do with forming this country.

With that said...as a kid in school, I got to go on the Mayflower as part of a 4-H trip. It’s one of my most favorite memories. Also present nearby was the USS Constitution. I didn’t get to go onboard but she was a beautiful site to see.

Back to the Matflower; it seems the just did a major renovation.

I don’t want to see history abandoned, neither should it be fictitious.

Just for clarification, the original Mayflower no longer exists. It was sold for scrap in 1624.

The ship you were on was probably the Mayflower II which was built in 1957.

Still a great memory.

I remember seeing replica’s of Columbus’s fleet and touring the Pinta. An amazingly small ocean going vessel.
