Do these establishments have a sign at the door requiring masks? If so, and you do not wish to wear a mask you should not enter in the 1st place. You don’t enter without a shirt if that is requested by the owner or management for you to enter, do you?

It is not the same thing and you know it. A LOT of the establishments that have the sign in Maricopa County, AZ only do so out of orders from upstairs (corporate or government pressure), or not wanting to be called by masky people.

There are plenty of places that have tons of signage, and even bilingual messages on the PA, and yet, I walk right in, past the security guard (grocery store), without so much as a raised eyebrow.

Sometimes the places with the most signage are the least problematic. Only way to find out is one at a time. I also find that local cops seem to like to hang out (maskless) at said places. The odds of them having their food contaminated is MUCH less at such places.

In any event, the only way to find out is to try them one at a time. That is what I do. I also believe it is good to show others that not everyone is going to play along with this Twilight Zone dystopia, especially those who agree in spirit but aren't interested in friction of any kind.

It is still the owner's or corporate management acting in their name ultimate decision, unless this is some sort of really dysfunctional business.

In particular, owners of bars, restaurants, stores, etc., face legal pressure and sometimes not legal pressure every day to do stuff they'd rather not have to do, "rather not" because it negatively affects their business, their customers (such as via higher prices than maybe the next jurisdiction over), etc. Been there, done that. They decide whether to comply vs. just pay a fine (sometimes repeatedly), risk getting closed down, and so on. If you don't like their decision, if you were polite, you'd phone them (nicely) or write them a cordial letter stating your position. Instead, you are on THEIR property, potentially risking trouble for them. Which property ownership obviously you do not respect.

Now, why don't you go ask (ASK!!!) the owner or their representative if the ownership is in favor of or not in favor of requiring masks to enter. Regardless of their reason, if they say yes, and you are passionate about it, respect their decision and don't go in, but please feel free to advise them in writing why you are no longer a customer. If "no", try to work with them to organize a large (large!) protest at the business or maybe City Hall (owner's choice), not against the business itself, but supporting it and against the local officials, notifying the pertinent officials and news media well ahead of time.
