I think all these new lockdowns are because of the millions of people cynically commenting that “all this will be over after the election” and they feel like they have to keep it going to make it look somehow non-political.

I’ve thought the same thing, it’s to prove Trump wrong on the multiple times he (ill-advisedly) said that everything would open up on Nov 4th. I think restrictions would have relaxed if he hadn’t said that.
There is also the possibility that we are being distracted from the election fraud. Seems just a bit coincidental that the covid hype goes into overdrive once again, right after the election, which happens to be contested and full of blatant, obvious fraud.
Keep people afraid, confused, worried, and they are less likely to think rationally about what’s happening in the election fraud sector of the news.
