Zappa hated everything Republican because of his hatred of Joe McCarthy, from that point on, every Republican was suspect in his mind.

But the thing is, he hated Communism. He was good friends with Vaclav Havel, the Czech dissident, who became President when the Czechs were liberated from Communism.

Every politician was suspect in Zappa’s mind. He believed that both parties were same, entertainment for the suckers to make them believe they had a choice when in fact both were just faces put up by the corporate interests that really run this country. Or as he put it, “Politics is the entertainment branch of industry.”

Forget where I saw it but on TV somebody said something vaguely conservative and Frank sneered at him, "You must be a Republican ..."
