Sadly sometimes its the only way to root out deep seated corruption. Likely required here to get the country back.
Just a guess but I think what prompted this was the continued funding of organization like ISIS and others by these people.
I think Trump handed over the intel and showed the King who it was that was endangering theirs countries national security.
I have noticed that since this was done there has been a marked drop in major attacks.
