I would go with the continuing paycheck belief. The fix is already in so deep that Chameleon Harris can almost taste the coming job, which wouldn’t be Vice President for more than a few weeks.

Of course, all this could still blow up, and the election could be thrown on the House of Representatives. But then, the Senate would select the Vice President, and a curious outcome could come up where Georgia could lose both Republican seats, and rather than Mike Pence, the totally adversarial Harris could still be VP.

And here you thought 2020 was a non-stop nightmare.
