Kurt Russell Says Stars Who Get Political Hurt the Craft
Hollywood Reporter ^ | November 18, 2020 | Ryan Parker

"I’ve always been someone who felt we are court jesters," said Russell who stars alongside Hawn in Netflix's Christmas Chronicles 2. "That’s what we do. As far as I’m concerned, you should step away from saying anything so that you can still be seen by the audience in any character."

That is not to say Russell believes that stars should not be well informed, it would just behoove them to keep their opinions to themselves, he says.

“Just remember what ol’ Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, and the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake.”

“Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big ol’ storm right square in the eye and he says, “Give me your best shot, pal. I can take it.”

My beloved dad always said that you can’t take seriously anyone who pretends to be someone else. He did give a pass to Reagan but he was no longer an actor.

Hollywood, one of satan’s most lethal weapons against humanity. The actors allowed themselves to be pawns of the devil. (Not all of them of course)

“and can’t get into their movie character anymore”

Watch Joker.

You’ll never flash on that commie bastard’s politics.

Phoenix could play a religiously humble patriot convincingly.

Some of these commie bastards are just gifted.

Jeff Bridges is another one. Who else could play both The Dude and Rooster Cogburn?

Personally, I am enthralled at a live Stones concert because of their talent.

I’m OK as long as performers keep the politics out of the performance. Because I don’t care what they THINK and SAY about it.

nah- i can’t get past their political hatreds- Jim carey is a talented person too- but nope- not gonna support him at all- if an actor is out there spouting the kind of vitriol and hatred that say deniro does- carey does- then nope- that’s it- they have ruined the movie experience for me when it comes to them- Deniro was a heck of an actor- back in the day-But now everytime i see his mug it disgusts me- Same with Jane Fonda- and several other ‘major stars’ that just can’t keep their traps shut because their hatred for anything decent is too overpowering-

We mostly watch classic movies anyways- Can’t stand the massive overacting in today’s movies for the most part- - Extreme anger, extreme foulness- over the top

and i don’t even mind over the top acting WHEN it’s done deliberately and artistically, like in Kill Bill- or in the old movies where they stylistically over acted- but today’s movies just go for shock value with their extreme overacting/anger/ violence etc- I personally just don’t enjoy that kind of acting/movie-

Anyways- back to actors with disgusting political views- it just ruins it for me- regardless of how good they are as actors- for some, not all- I don’t mind actors havign different views- but there is a line they cross where i say ‘nope- no more’-

Deniro is still scum- and fonda does get political

Jane Fonda called Covid “God’s gift to the left”

“ripped the Band-Aid off who he (Trump) is and what he stands for,”

more available- she wasn’t just an enemy coddler- as bad as that is- she adds to it with ignorant liberal hate

Like what what you did there.

"Imagine all the airheads
Keeping their mouths shut
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day they'll leave us
For a long walk off a pier"

Alice Cooper said it best.

Don’t listen to musicians for politics.
We’re musicians because we’re too stupid to do anything else.

It’s a good thought. It does make it difficult to see the actor doing his work, you think of his opinions and it makes it very difficult to enjoy.

i will say though, I don’t know pheonix or his politics- As i mentioned, i don’t mind actors havign different political views- or even feeling strongly about their side’s agenda, but there just comes a line that gets crossed that I say no more to an actor- I can take a lot of nonsense from actors- but again- there is a line- for me personally- where they just ruin the whole movie experience for me when hey become so vile it’s all i can focus on when i see them-

I’ll check the movie joker- watch some previews or clips- a lot of folks said it’s pretty good- including you- so I’ll check it out-

“Jeff Bridges is another one. Who else could play both The Dude and Rooster Cogburn?”

Baloney .

He “was” gifted and as a Hollywood insider, his agent told us he’s not motivated anymore.

Watch his Rooster Cogburn, RIPD and Seventh Son...

Notice that he has the SAME EXACT character, including fake Southern twang? The same twang he used for Seventh Son for crying out loud..

I thought he did a better job than John Wayne did in the role.

And the modern version of True Grit was better than the original.

My first concert:

1979 February 16: USA - Cobo Hall, Detroit, Michigan 17: USA - Cobo Hall, Detroit, Michigan 18

Cold as hell (what a misnomer) - hitchhiking home from Cobo was a bitch ...
