True. The biggest thing about PGP is keeping your private key secure. I wouldn't trust having such a key on an MS-Windows computer.
If the NSA didn't actively work to keep our communications insecure, we'd have PGP-based encrypted comms everywhere by now. A public key handshake would make the handling of the session key fairly trivial, and wouldn't require much overhead. I've been using PGP since it was nothing but a DOS command line program. Wish more people knew how to actually use it.
