You’re right of course. The reason Trump picked Barr after firing Sessions was because Barr had already been AG and was a relatively easy confirmation in the Senate. Really, Trump didn’t have much choice. There were many Pub senators, particularly Graham, who suspected Trump had intentions to halt the Mueller investigations. Graham, ever the glassy-eyed weasel, vouched for Mueller’s integrity, almost to the farcical end.

There may have been others who could have been confirmed as AG, but I couldn’t thnk of any at the time.

The Republican led senate ran interference for the Democrats and deep state bureaucrats. They not only enabled them, they were their strongest advocates. I blame the Republicans as much as I do the Democrats.
