Yes, and available over-the-counter in many countries as it was in France for over 50 years. According to the AAPS safer than aspirin, Tylenol or Benadryl. But for COVID it’s important to combine it with zinc and Azithromycin (or Doxycyclene) for the best effect. And for elderly or high-risk treat immediately upon presentation of symptoms or clinical suspicion of COVID-19 without waiting for the unreliable result of COVID test to come back before treating. I don’t think it necessarily would be good to make the antibiotic OTC?

But wouldn’t it be better to immediately go on HCQ & zinc without antibiotic just on suspicion - and add the antibiotic upon confirmation?
