The smallest units were not any doors like a garage they were 8x10’ with steel doors and deadbolt which by law had to have keyless knobs on the inside to keep people from being locked in. It helped that my friends family owned the property and looked the other way they knew I was in the delayed enlistment program and had nowhere else to go until my slot came up.

They eat garbage from the media every day. To them it’s normal and expected.

My SIL is one of these. Last year, a local large supermarket experienced a power outage around this time of year, and dumped hundreds of still hard-frozen turkeys in the dumpster. The word went out on the Freegan wire, and SIL and several buddies “rescued” several truckloads of these birds, and spread the wealth to friends and families. We took 6 of them, and have been feasting on turkey all year long!
Businesses destroy such food when they can, because they can be sued if “freegans” get sick or even just distribute it. This is the price you pay for a sue-happy culture.
It is similar to the people who super-coupon and stock up on crap they don’t use. It is a thrill of discovery, excitement at feeling like you won, and “security” to have the stockpile.

Rummaging around in a dirty dumpster , crawling with bacteria is a perfect way to pick up salmonella or some other filthy condition.
Indeed. They’ll regret it when they get sick from eating spoiled food.
