Mine came from a comfortable life in Galt, Ontario. Why they chose SK is a mystery. I guess the lure of the free land was a huge pull. I don’t think mine had any farming experience, either. I think there are a few distant cousins still located around there.
Did homesteaders have any idea of how effing cold it was there and the nonstop winds?
My wife is at our Idaho place north of CdA. I came back to our CA place last week to catch up on lots of doctor, dentist, and ophthalmologist appointments! This morning it was warmer in ID than here in the Bay Area for a little while. We had good ice here this morning. By afternoon we were 30 degrees warmer here. My wife still got out on her regular walk with a good friend down by the Spokane River.
Hope all went well with the herd of docs. At the rate things are going, it seems best to get as much done as you can whill you can. I need a couple of eye surgery procedures but can't quite manage the copay.
Thanks. Everything great (so far). My wife is continuing to work through next June and has fantastic insurance, so we are getting everything done we possible can. She can continue to purchase her insurance after she retires, but the cost is staggering. Ugh.
I grew up & still live in Louisiana. We don’t really have winter. Last year it was on a Tuesday!

Battleford is a small city which is considered rural. My brothers just went bored and moved to Vancouver, and I followed after grade school. The winters are absolutely nasty and if your car aint buried in snow, we call it a “mild winter”. XD
