If you happen to be a fan of the “Master of Suspense,” Alfred Hitchcock, you may recall actor Norman Lloyd in two Hitchcock flicks: Saboteur in 1942 and Spellbound in 1945. At the time of Saboteur, 28-year-old Norman Lloyd, who played a Nazi spy, began his long association with the famous director. It extended to anthology series Alfred Hitchcock Presents, where Lloyd was employed as an associate director and producer (and as an actor in numerous episodes).
Mr. Lloyd, of course, is also known for his six-season stint as the kindly Dr. Daniel Auslander on NBC medical dramedy St. Elsewhere in the 198os. Originally scheduled for only four episodes in season one, Lloyd became a regular for the remainder of the series, which ended in 1988 when he was 74 years of age.

I loved him in St. Elsewhere.
St. Elsewhere is one of my all-time favorite tv shows. I would watch the whole series again if it were available.

I liked him in “A Walk in the Sun” (1945) but I don’t think I saw it till the 1980s, I’m not that old, lol.

His daughter Josie Lloyd (who is 80 now) was hilarious as the strange and socially inept Lydia Crosswaithe in a few episodes of the Andy Griffith Show.
I didn’t know that. I liked Norman from the Hitchcock days......seems all his parts in his younger days were sinister but I loved him on St. Elsewhere.....

Norman Lloyd talked about starting out in Hollywood as a rabid socialist. He said something to the effect of “we were all socialists back then.” I imagine he still probably is.
