The Marxist War on Statues

As the nation watched in dismay, Antifa and Black Lives Matter (BLM) activists targeted historic monuments as part of their ongoing practice of urban mayhem. This civil unrest was not simply the result of simmering racial tension or periodic urban disorder. As Ryan Moffat pointed out in the Epoch Times, the current destruction of monuments emanates from a Marxist ideology that is at war with our common and noble heritage.

In response to the ongoing upheaval, President Donald Trump took a two-pronged approach. One was negative and the other positive. The negative prong involved the prosecution of anyone vandalizing statues on federal property.

While the negative approach was almost immediately effective, he engaged in a more important positive tactic that directly attacked the Marxist ideology behind the removal of historic monuments. He enacted The Interagency Task Force for Building and Rebuilding Monuments to American Heroes. The taskforce would recommend Americans of unique character and national importance that were believed to be worthy of national recognition so a statue could be erected in his or her honor.

In September 2020, Maryland State Senators Michael Hugh and Justin Ready put forward the name of Whittaker Chambers as one deserving of public recognition. Chambers was originally a Communist infiltrator, who participated in underground spy rings in Washington D.C. After undergoing a much-written about conversion, he left the Communist apparatus, became an editor of Time Magazine and later began revealing the extent of Communist infiltration in the country. Chamber’s anti-Communist battle reached a crescendo with the exposure and eventual prosecution of Alger Hiss.

Not everyone agreed with the nomination of Chambers for this recognition.

Big fan of Chambers. Anyone who has not read “Witness” should do so asap.

Also there’s a great lecture series on youtube that is very witty and very informative, “A Pumpkin Patch, A Typewriter, and Richard Nixon.”
