Oh we do indeed see that hell that civil war would be. But we compare it to the hell of life in the USSR, in East Germany, in China. We see starvation in Venezuela. We see arrests for pure political speech in the UK and Canada.
Civil war sucks, until you see the alternative. It’s pretty clear we can’t vote our way out of this anymore than you could have in 1975 in the USSR. Man up.
Here’s a serious question. What would the goal of CW II be?
Both sides had clear goals in CW I. Ask soldiers from different Union states what they were fighting for, and they would say pretty much the same thing. The same would go for soldiers from different Confederate states.
But what would the ‘rebel’ goal in a hypothetical CW II be? Demand a recount? Restore Trump to the presidency? Occupy DC? Form a new country?
Therein lies the problem. Those goals range from the modest to the extreme. That is bound to fracture any ‘rebel’ cause.
