I told my family...
- Since I'm now retired, no more payroll tax from us and income tax on only 50% of my prior salary.
- No more charitable giving. From now on, if people want money they can appeal to the government that increased my taxes. They voted for it, so they can live with the consequences of it. That includes heart, lung, cancer, blood, and any other disease funding that relied on the largesse of the Right. Call me cold-hearted, I don't care. Maybe I'll make an exception for dog rescue charities.
- Sean Hannity is dead to me, unless he renounces Fox News and terminates his employment. I won't watch his show or listen to his radio program as long as he continues to lend his cache to that network. The same is true for Mark Levin, Tucker Carlson, and everyone else. It's not personal with them, it's just business. I have to vote with my dollars, and that includes them. It's a time for reckoning for all of us; do they want to be a part of the vichy government, or do they want to go underground?
- Sports is done, movies are done, theater is done, concerts are done. Starve the celebrity class. For those who invested wisely, good for them. For those who blinged it all away, I hope they can code, or code and speak Punjab and Mandarin. I can survive on MeTV and Decades.
- Texas. If I had to pick one place to be during the next four years, I'm glad we're already here. I know it's looking a little blue right now, but I hope it was a wake-up call to the rest of us to harden up. Even at its worst liberal tendencies, at least the religious expression is free, the guns are everywhere, the space is open and unregulated, and the economy is sustainable. Unless they ban fracking, in which case Texans may ban liberals in retaliation.
