You are a real optimist. With full on Marxists and Communists in charge who will open the borders, change laws so that the foundations of America are destroyed, the middle class is persecuted and then destroyed so that we will have a soviet type of country of the inner party and the dependent, oppressed masses, we will not recover. Also, the Left is not going to allow the Supreme Court to stop them even if it desires too.
This sounds exactly what I thought and heard when Obama won.

That list goes on. The truth is - if I were a Democrat slug I would be pretty upset at Obama. That guy (and his VP) did utterly nothing for the leftist causes. Remember that Trump has passed more gun control than Obama did (Same with Reagan)

I also recall Obama’s election win. I was in Stamford CT. On the sidewalk with a date and the street exploded with black guys running around “we own yo ass now nigga” repeated ad nauseum. “It our shit now nigga”.. again, stuck on repeat like those people do.
We survived 8 years of that.
However, you are correct in a regard - And something I forgot about. After all these years we are finally ready to go to a kinetic civil war and you mentioned an unrecoverable destruction. There may be middle ground here. The only recovery may be found in destruction.
When Hillary was running I too had doubts about Trump. We all did. It was a scary night. But I remember taking a deep breath and telling myself “It’s got to happen sometime. We haven’t been preparing for more than a decade for nothing”
