What about the devastating hit a suburban family would pay take in the cost of gasoline. A two car family driving 30 miles each a day, assuming mpg of 30 and $5/gas, would pay an additional $2190 per year.

Also natural gas. Natgas prices are down to what they were 25 years ago, and that’s ignoring inflation. So really it’s cheaper. Add in some Green New Deal, that goes away and prices double or triple or quadruple. Bet on it.
