I posted most of this on the main thread, but here goes:
I arrived at the polling place in Allegheny County (Western suburb) at about 10 minutes to 7 this morning, and was shocked to see a line of about 50 people there already. This has never happened before. Talked to a few people in line who either requested a mail in ballot and never received it, or didn’t trust mail-in ballots. I tend to assume those who distrust VBM are Trump voters, but you never know. The guy who didn’t get his mail-in ballot sarcastically said they were probably saving it for Biden.
They brought us in in small groups, and I entered at about 7:15. When I went up to the desk, the young woman checking us in couldn’t find my name on the list at first; looking in the wrong part of the alphabet no doubt. Then they handed me a paper ballot! I have used voting machines at that polling place for seven years. Possibly because of COVID. Anyway, I filled it out and put it in a scanning machine. I hope it took. When my BF voted in another county (Washington), the machine gave him a printed receipt.
As I was leaving, a young (30s-ish) woman was outside placing Republican political signs in the grass around the polling location (they gave her permission to do so). That was somewhat encouraging to me, as I tend to stereotype millennials as being Democrats.
I’ve heard that western Allegheny County (Moon, Robinson) is breaking VERY strongly for Trump.
Here in the South Hills we’ve got idiots with Biden signs all over the place.
Not sure what it means but massive lines in my county in Indiana. We’re talking 1.5-2.0 hour waits. Outlining counties not nearly as bad.
