Yep. I’ve seen a lot of that.
I’m an amateur musician and have posed for a lot of photo shoots. We wear hats, hold our instruments, pose in front of various backgrounds, etc. It’s jaded me to all this stuff.
When kids see a photo of their favorite metal band or punk band, they see a bunch of tough guys in leather holding their instruments in an industrial or cyberpunk (or just plain punk) environment, or their favorite jazz guy in his fedora, and don’t realize these are just a bunch of normal guys that are wearing a costume and face for a photo. And then they go back to their normal life.
i.e. it’s all for show.
Why the diatribe? Because whenever I see a news reporter or politician at a podium wearing a mask, I see the mask as a prop meant to send a message. Nothing more. It always cracks me up. Mask = Fedora or motorcycle chain bracelet or studded leather vest. It’s all just show.
