Paul also played drums on “The Ballad of John and Yoko”. He played every instrument on his first solo album.
Yep.
A friend remastered “McCartney” and gifted me a CDR burned direct from the master tape. the laser burned CDR is far superior to the pressed commercial CD.
The CDR gift also includes some “dry” tracks without the reverb that was later added as McCartney loved how his voice sounded with reverb.
Fun facts during the “White Album”...
Although Abbey Road was the Beatles primary studio, they traveled to Trident Studio to use their “new” 8-track system and large Tannoy loudspeakers as monitors.
The songs recorded at Trident included “Hey Jude”, “Dear Prudence”, “Martha My Dear”, Honey Pie” and, IIRC, “I Want You” for their last album.
McCartney was interviewed about those sessions and commented the Trident’s 8-track was far superior to Abbey Road’s antiquated 4 track as well as the Tannoy monitors.
Another IIRC, Trident had a 100 year old piano whose sound was so clear it blew away McCartney during his recording of “Hey Jude”
On the remixed/remastered version of the White Album, the Trident tracks are noticeable more clear, transparent and detailed.
