The largest flying American flag in the world on a flagpole is in Gastonia, North Carolina.
The 65’ tall and 114’ wide flag is flown on a 225’ flagpole and can be seen for 30 miles. Each stripe on the flag is 5’ tall and each star measures more than 4’ across.
It was organized by Gastonia AMVETS Post 920 whose veterans traveled across the country to raise money for the 7-year project which was completed in 1999.
