They had big billboards up every so often warning people to stay inside. As a percentage of their population, theyve been hit very hard by the virus. I think I read that the Navajo have a unique genetic vulnerability to it.
At one of the very few places open, a Burger King drive through, the people working there were so super friendly. At a nearby gas station, the only one we saw that was open inside, the clerk couldnt have been nicer. I also noticed a kid outside sanitizing every handle on every gas pump. Theyre trying as hard as they can because they are so dependent upon tourism.
I hope they recover well from this whole thing. Because I live in the southwest, I just have a soft spot for the Navajo.
Prayers up for the Navajo.
I’ve lived in the 4-Corner area in the past, and now live close to the Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma. Both tribes are about the same in population, yet the Cherokees are having less a problem with Covid than the Navajos.
It is in both nations but the Navajos are being hit hard!
