Trump's border wall is forcing traffickers out to sea, so how again is it that it was not supposed to work?
Now, sink the boats.
We are drowning the children instead of putting them in cages? How cruel, it’s George’s fault. What Honey? Oh, it’s Trump’s fault...
Biden will demolish the wall in 30 days.
You signed up today so you could write fake headlines?
Not our kids. Not our problem.
It is their parent’s fault for dragging them along on a dangerous invasion of the US.
As expected. But the real problem remains: idiot druggies in the US making a market for these scumbags. As long as people pay good money for drugs there will be smugglers seeking to provide them.
BUT IT’S NOT NEW WALL!!!! WAAAAAAAA!!!! /sarc
We need some AIP diesel electric subs for coastal protection.
Although the cheaper plan would be to transfer at least one class of the failed LCS ships to the Coast Guard. Probably the Independence class since they are already homported in San Diego, but the Freedom Class could be split between Corpus and Key West.
They don’t just smuggle drugs. They also smuggle in people who we would never normally allow into our country. There’s a whole industry built around getting people that we don’t want into our country. The wall helps with that. Constant vigilance and enforcement are required as well.
Is there a naval version of the A-10? It could have pontoons.
Huh? How is this a fake headline? It is copied exactly as written from the Washington Examiner site. Am I missing something here?
You are so right. Law enforcement should target the high-profile, beautiful people who are users: actors, musicians, and entertainers. If these opinion leaders spend some time in jail, I think demand will go down.
She makes the point that the new wall in San Diego is not just dramatically more effective, but it has also been extended further inland, over rugged mountains.
Before, the end of the barrier was just a stone's throw from the the last houses in Tijuana - paved city streets extended within a few hundred yards of open border.
The new extension over the mountains will meet up with a pre-existing run of bollards and patrol road, effectively ending the option of walking around the barrier from Tijuana to San Diego (ten miles out on the Mexican side through mountainous wilderness, and ten miles back through the same on the American side - monitored by improved new technology).

So you’d give those failed headaches to the Coasties, instead of the scrappers as planned? You plan on having Nancy approve a substantial multi-billion dollar budget increase for the Treasury Dept to fix and maintain the unfixable
What you are now reading is the headline that appears with the WE article. The poster, who signed up today, wrote his own headline. The mods have fixed it.
‘Cause THEY said so! And, THEY are all knowing and wise, doncha know?
They are adequate as Coast Guard cutters, and suitably armed for that job. Even have some ASW capabiliity if German U-Boats show up off the east coast. Large helipad for search and rescue operations.
By the numbers, the Independence class is about the same lenght as a WMSL or a WHEC, roughly twice the beam, about 1/3 faster, significatly smaller crew, equivalent firepower.
Shorter range, but that shouldn’t matter for coastal interdiction. Smaller crew should mean lower burden for the taxpayers.
The LCS class is better fitted for the scrap yard then active duty - the maintenance costs alone are huge - not to mention any fixes to the ill-thought out class. The Treasury is ill-suited to the CG as it is and adding multi-billion dollar junk ships is just insane.
AIP subs are fine ... if you could convince the Navy they are some sort of cool super expensive toy, that being non-nuclear is a good thing, along with being built in a foreign yard.
German U-boats haven’t been seen since WWII other than resting on the bottom, but some of the smugglers underwater boats ought to be sonar visible - assuming WMSL and WHEC sonar suits have not been upgraded since the 1940s, which I very much doubt.
A-10s are being heavily upgraded and re-winged as part of their ‘removal of small fast boats’ missions. They’d do just fine out of CA airbases
