Getting a New Mattress, What's Your Favorite Brand?
Myself | 10/25/2020 | Balding_Eagle

Posted on 10/25/2020 10:29:06 AM PDT by Balding_Eagle

I am in the market for a new mattress, our memory foam mattress has given out, and I've ended up sleeping in a 'trench' for the past few months and it's time to replace it with a new one.

At 5'10" and about 185, I'm not a monster who has smashed the bed.

I'm certainly open to another memory foam type, it was very good when it was newer, but I'd like to hear from others.

What are you using, how satisfied are you with your choice, and how long have you had it?

Thanks to everyone who takes time to respond.

Got a Leesa years ago and it was and is great.

The Best I found was a 12” $2000 mattress but a very small improvement. You could stack 2 Leesa’s and do even better.

I like BROOKLYN BEDDING!

Their firm mattress is GREAT if you need spinal/back support but some find it a bit too hard for sleeping. In that case, the medium will do.

Another thing I like is their product is MADE IN AMERICA!!!

If you don't like the mattress, you can return it FREE without any hassle.

FWIW, Brooklyn Bedding manufactures their mattresses in Arizona.

“what’s your favorite mattress?”

The one my sweetheart sleeps on.

Be smart.
Ask her what she wants.
Whatever it is, just get it.
Don’t argue.
Don’t do anything but get what she tells you to get.

eezy peezy.

Yeah, memory foam can be too much. Hubby runs hot & I wake up with hot flashes, so there’s no way.

What we do instead is reserve the queen-size memory-foam for camping. Between smoothing out the tent site ground, and putting the memory-foam under our sleeping bags... it’s super-comfy.

We purchased our Sleep Number at least 12 years ago. It is great. Our prior mattress last about 10 years.

We are thinking of buying a sleep number. Wife and I both like different types so it seems to be the best compromise. Family members who have them love it.

We got a Helix a few years ago and it is one the best purchases we ever made. It is amazing.

I purchased Olee Sleep 12 inch Hybrid Euro Box Top Pocket Spring Mattress (King) from Amazon in December. Comes in a rectangular box. After 35 years on,waterbed stunned at the comfort. Also less the $250. I’m 6’ 2”, 225, wife 5’4” 110, we both love it!!

Chatham & Wells. Exceptionally well made with superior comfort. I’ve had mine for 13 years and it’s still just as comfortable as the day I bought it. No sag, not broken down at all, however, it was pricey. Well worth the investment!

VERY IMPORTANT:

DO NOT BUY ANY MATTRESS THAT DOESN'T HAVE HANDLES! You will find handles life makes life much easier if you ever need to move or adjust your mattress!!!!

Moving foam or even hybrid (foam with innerspring) mattresses without handles is a pain in the arse!

Just bought a Helix. The jury is still out. Not sure if it is soft enough in the right places.

We have a Tempurpedic split king adjustable. It was spendy, but every night my wife and I lie down and and we are totally OK with all the money we spent. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

1. Buy an extra-firm with side reinforcement
2. Buy a separate 2” ‘memory foam’ pad
3. Assemble the new mattress and foam pad
4. Add an electric mattress pad for cold nights

This way you can flip your mattress to spread the wear and tear over the years. Memory foam can be separately vacuumed and flipped every year.

Best if you can find NOS (new old stock) mattress before they added all the fluoride-based fireproofing to mattresses, circa 1980s.
