You can’t know if the study is valid until you publish the study. Sounds familiar.
The study does not say what the anti-maskers are claiming it says. The anti-maskers argue that the claim of 100% efficacy of masks preventing the spread of covid is false so we should not use masks because somebody too stupid to clean them might get sick. All of that is BS. Masks prevent an infected person from spreading covid. Nobody is claiming they are 100% effective, but they are effective to a large degree. Some people just don’t want to wear them no matter how many people get sick. It’s that simple, and any excuse or straw man argument is good enough.
We never wear masks with the Flu...I suppose now we have to wear them forever
They only slow the spread...
Mask or no mask, we must all wear arm bands. /sarc.
Surgical masks keep “spatter” out of OR staffs’ mouths.
If surgical masks prevented viral transmission to any significant degree, there would have been tons of research to back that claim up long before 2020.
Surgical masks for SARS-CoV-2 are nothing but a security blanket until proven otherwise.
Don’t hold your breath waiting for credible proof.
Holding your breath may prevent spread of the virus though...
“Masks prevent an infected person from spreading covid.”
Well, they prevent someone SNEEZING from putting mucous on you. To that extent they work. So does standing 3-4 feet away.
Now....where are the studies showing they prevent asymptomatic people from spreading squat? Or the studies showing asymptomatic people spread it to any significant degree at all?
Isn’t the scientific process to review all plausible theories objectively?
Sure seems that the whole mask thing is mostly political anymore. Certainly less scientific. There is a movement to suppress the science. It is a new religion. A cult. The cult of the mask.
It’s the science baby.
Fair enough. But why make uninfected people wear them?

You said: Masks prevent an infected person from spreading covid. Nobody is claiming they are 100% effective, but they are effective to a large degree
No, this isn’t accurate. In hospital situations, nurses that deal with covid patients wear masks that expose no skin and attach to their “suits” and gloves.
In nursing homes, caregivers come in with face masks and pass covid on to their patients.
Nobody is claiming they are 100% effective, but they are effective to a large degree.
That sounds scientific.
