Murder hornets from the first nest discovered on US soil have been successfully sucked out of a tree cavity and placed on ice after experts located the nest in Washington state this week by attaching radio trackers to the bugs.

The so-called murder hornets, known for their potentially fatal sting to humans and their ability to wipe out an entire bee hive in a matter of hours, were vacuumed out of the tree into a long plastic tube before being killed, marking the culmination of a complex removal process Saturday morning.

The suits are a little over the top.

In photos in the article they’re attaching the tracking devices barehanded.

The tracking device was almost definitely attached while the hornet was sedated with CO2 or something. The guys in the forest are attacking the hive, and are much more likely to be attacked by large numbers of the bastards, so something much more protective is a good idea.
That said, their suits do look over the top for the job, I would think a decent, normal bodysuit plus a normal beekeeping helmet would be sufficient for this.
