excellent work...hope you are feeling better....

a hard frost came on Wednesday night, but I still dug up two big pepper plants, cut them back, replanted them in potting soil and will try to over winter them in the house because apparently if you do, it gives the plants a big head start in producing the next season....

but then SNOW came on Friday.....3 inches about....I still had a lot of garden work to do...hell, I still was nibbling at some green pole beans a couple of days ago....

but my garlic is in as of two weeks ago so there's that....

indoor plants are surviving...

looking forward to seed catalogues and my advice to everyone is to get seeds as early as you can this year...

Thanks - definitely doing better. Bruises have gone to ‘yellow/greenish’ .... so attractive! I get some ‘looks’ ... people probably think I’m in an abusive relationship.

I have my fingers crossed for no hard frost (until after Thanksgiving would be fantastic - ha!) - I covered my plants last year & they did ok, until we got down to 30 one night & that was ‘The End’.

The only thing left (veggie wise) in my garden are my green bell peppers. Lots of small ones still on the plant & although they are big enough to cut up if I have to pick them, I’m letting them go as long as I can. Pulled the jalapeno bushes earlier this week. I wish I had some place to over winter plants, but I don’t. One day, maybe I can come up with a small greenhouse. A greenhouse & chickens are on my “wish list”.

Definitely do “early” ... for any kind of ‘shopping’ ... seeds, Christmas, etc. I had trouble finding plants last year ... my SIL saved my (veggie) bacon & found some 6-packs of peppers (jalapenos & bell) which she split with me. My local nursery, where I can usually buy 4-packs of almost anything for about $1.60, literally got in ‘nothing’ last year for many of the veggies. To add insult to injury, I had to replant my tomatoes - late cold weather & sunburn (my stupidity) killed them. Anyway, hopefully this year will be better. I do have enough canning jars for jelly next year - need to keep an eye out for other sizes - very short supply this past summer.

“None of the current on-hand inventories are enough to fulfill demand for a big holiday shopping season. Hence, my advice – buy early, buy now.”
